Achille Castiglioni
(1918-2002)
The legendary Italian architect and industrial designer is renowned worldwide as a teacher and pioneer of twentieth-century design. Best known for his furniture, lighting, and exhibition work, he created finely styled, expressive, highly imaginative designs for items as diverse as vacuum cleaners and bathroom fixtures. In collaboration with his brother Pier Giacomo until 1968, he used experimental and traditional forms, and new technology to create objects in diverse materials. MoMA celebrates the legacy of this great master and inspiration.
