The MoMA Modern Kids product collection is a collaboration between The Museum of Modern Art and Chronicle Books. From a modular playhouse to innovative lacing cards and string-along books, this irresistible line of interactive books and kits for children is designed to inspire and foster creativity that will last a lifetime.

Mid-Century Design

Following World War II, a number of factors combined to foster a new direction in home products and furniture. New materials, such as molded plywood and plastic, and advances in mass production techniques opened a world of design options. Through the efforts of companies like Herman Miller, their longtime design director George Nelson, and the influential team of Charles and Ray Eames, these new designs could be produced for a broad market. A new vocabulary of ergonomic form, versatile function, and synthetic material emerged—and some of the most beloved furniture of the century was created.

Bauhaus

This influential school of avant-garde art, design, and architecture of the twentieth century was a vibrant laboratory for redefining artistic practice in the modern age. Founded
in 1919 and shut down by the Nazis in 1933, the Bauhaus brought together artists, architects, and designers in an extraordinary conversation about the nature of art in the
age of technology. Aiming to rethink the very form of modern life, the Bauhaus became the site of a dazzling array of experiments in the visual arts that have profoundly shaped our visual world today.

Peter Norton Family Christmas Art Projects

Each year since 1988, art collector, software entrepreneur, and MoMA trustee Peter Norton has commissioned an art edition to celebrate the holidays. Created by artists represented in the Nortons’ own collection, and sent as gifts to personal friends and members of the art community, these art objects are designed to be interactive and playful, and to foster engagement with the world of contemporary art.

Peter Norton has generously donated the remaining supply of these art objects to MoMA, with the proceeds to benefit P.S.1. The MoMA Stores are pleased to offer these highly collectible works the public, available in limited quantities.
