Product Description

The Museum of Modern Art First Loan Exhibition

The Museum of Modern Art has published a facsimile of the catalogue that accompanied the Museum's first loan exhibition, on the Post-Impressionists Cézanne, Gauguin, Seurat, and Van Gogh, in November 1929. This special edition has been produced both to commemorate the Museum's 75th anniversary and to mark its simultaneous reopening. MoMA's first book, originally published in an edition of 3,000, includes 97 black and white illustrations and contains an introductory essay by Alfred H. Barr, Jr., the Museum's founding director. The Museum of Modern Art has published continually since 1929, issuing over 1,000 catalogues and other scholarly books in support of the Museum's educational mission.
