Product Description

Barcelona Stool

A companion piece to the iconic Barcelona Chair, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Stool showcases the pure compositional structure that is synonymous with modern architecture. The stool was designed for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona Exposition of 1929 and has influenced a generation of designers who have turned to its elegant lines and refined proportions for inspiration. The work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is featured in the Museum’s collection, and was highlighted in the Mies Van der Rohe Centennial, an exhibition mounted by the Department of Architecture and Design in 1986. This authorized reproduction is produced by Knoll, the storied furniture company to whom van der Rohe personally accorded exclusive manufacturing rights in 1953. From the hand-buffed frame to the individual leather squares carefully welted together, each Barcelona piece is a tribute to traditional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
