Miniature Chair, Eames La Chaise
Charles and Ray Eames
Faithfully reproduced from the full-size originals, these precise miniatures replicate important chairs in the development of twentieth-century furniture design, many of which are now in the Museum's design collection. The miniatures, developed by the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, are now sought-after collectibles. Each is meticulously crafted in the original materials at a scale of 1:6, including miniature screws. Packed in a wooden "shipping crate" with a descriptive brochure. Created in 1948 as an entry for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition held by MoMA, the chaise's design was noted for its elegance. Recreated in fiberglass, metal, and wood.
