Miniature Chair, Le Corbusier Grand Confort
Charles-Edouard Jeanneret,
Pierre Jeanneret,
Charlotte Perriand, 1929

Faithfully reproduced from the full-size originals, these precise miniatures replicate important chairs in the development of twentieth-century furniture design, many of which are now in the Museum's design collection. The miniatures, developed by the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, are now sought-after collectibles. Each is meticulously crafted in the original materials at a scale of 1:6, including miniature screws. Packed in a wooden "shipping crate" with a descriptive brochure. Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, introduced the armchair "Grand Confort" in 1929 as part of an interior created for the "Salon d'Automne" in Paris. In concurrence with its programmatic name "Grand Confort," the armchair's chrome-plated tubular steel frame and the five voluminous, orthogonal leather cushions evoke both comfort and formal reduction.
