To provide temporary quarters for the Museum of Modern Art while the it undergoes a three-year long expansion project in Manhattan, an old stapler factory in Long Island City, Queens was transformed into a state-of-the-art exhibition space. This volume documents the creation of MoMA QNS. An introductory text by Terence Riley, Chief Curator of Architecture and Design, details the renovation process and discusses the building from conception to completion with images of the drawings, plans, and the building itself. The architects of MoMA QNS%97Michael Maltzan, Inc. and Cooper, Robertson & Partners%97are discussed in subsequent sections in terms of their roles on MoMA QNS and their other projects.
