I'll admit I bought this based mainly on aesthetics. I love Scandinavian/Danish design because it's simple and classic but also unique and of high quality. This carafe encompasses all of those qualities.

Aesthetically, it can't be faulted. It gets compliments each time someone new sees it. It's also smaller than I was expecting (I'm bad with dimensions), which was actually a good thing for me as we don't have much space left in our kitchen, but it still holds just shy of a litre of liquid.

But the best bit is that it REALLY works to keep liquids hot. The first thing I put in it was coffee. I first made it in a cafeteria and then transferred it to this carafe. And I'm happy to say that 5hrs later I still had steam rising when I poured my last cup of coffee.

For tea, it's even better. I just put the bags in the carafe, pour water in and screw the top while holding the strings. Just yesterday (which prompted me to write this review) I made tea in this right before I went to bed. In the morning, 8.5 hrs later, I decided to pour some tea out of it just to see if it might even be lukewarm, and it was actually still steaming hot! Not at proper boiling temperature mind, but if I actually wanted tea at that time it would have been a totally acceptable drinking temperature.

My only advice is that I would follow the instructions for 'pre-treating' the thermos (e.g., rinse with warm/hot water before pouring in boiling water) to aid in insulation and to protect against the glass breaking. I haven't had any problems, but better safe than sorry.

This is now one of my favourite things in the kitchen and I can't wait to use it to store cold beverages for picnics in the summer as the instructions say it works even longer for cold drinks! I can't say enough good things about this carafe!

wonderful design, but: must rinse with hot water before adding liquid, e.g. coffee, you want to keep warm. Difficult to get the last amount of liquid out of the carafe (but in my opinion, still worth using)

I have been frustrated with my old carafe. You really had to be careful to screw the top on just so or the coffee would not stay hot. Not so with this carafe! I love it-easy to use-coffee stays hot for many hours and warm for the rest. Besides its efficiency it looks great!
