Nelson Bench
George Nelson, 1946
Is it a platform or a bench? The 1948 Herman Miller® furniture catalog claims it's both - also a table. However it is used, the handsome bench sits well in all kinds of places. Its slats, spaced so that air and light travel through, are natural maple. The legs are lacquered solid wood, finger-jointed for superior strength. Introduced in 1946 as part of George Nelson's first collection for Herman Miller, the bench, like many of his designs, has clean, rectilinear lines, reflecting his architectural background and his insistence on honest design. This licensed version is made in the USA by Herman Miller®.
