I picked up Tengu for my wife. She loves it. First day she had it we had him setup below the TV while she watched Glee. He sang along to several of the songs. His mic is sensitive enough to pick up fairly quiet scenes. However this is also a small negative as during loud scenes, he looked like he was screaming in pain the whole time.

Definitely a recommended purchase if you want a bit more amusement out of your daily activities within reach. Recommendation for Tengu 2.0: Add a small rechargeable battery so he doesn't have to be tethered to a USB cable all the time.

Lights up, but face does not change. Does not react to sound. If you buy one of these as a gift, check it before you wrap it to avoid being even more disappointed than I am.

I never review products online, but I really didn't want people to be scared away from this surprisingly delightful gadget. Tengu is SOUND ACTIVATED. It's certainly possible that the above reviewer got a broken one, but it seems more like they didn't understand how it works. Tengu will only "wake up" and make faces in response to relatively loud music or conversation. It's pretty hilarious to watch it lip sync the dialogue in TV shows, actually.

I had this sent to my daughter in Alaska. Unfortunately, she just told me that her Tengu USB toy never woke up -- looks more dead than asleep... No matter how long it's plugged in, the face indicates that it's probably in a coma.
