Tragic Thoughts Light-Up Journal
The exterior cover of this journal features a drawing by Tim Burton of the Pin Cushion Queen from The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories. When the hidden on/off button on the book's cover is activated, a dozen tiny LEDs light up the colored jewels of the Queen's pins. Made of paper and LED lights.
With a visual style inspired by the aesthetics of animation and silent comedy, Tim Burton has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking over the past three decades, melding the exotic, the horrific, and the comic and manipulating expressionism and fantasy with the skill of a graphic novelist. This product was selected to accompany MoMA's major career retrospective, Tim Burton.
