Product Description

Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects (PB)

By Paola Antonelli. With essays by Jamer Hunt, Alexandra Midal, Kevin Slavin, and Khoi Vinh.

Whether openly and actively or in subtle, subliminal ways, things talk to us. Published in conjunction with an exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art, Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects features nearly two hundred projects ranging from the microscopic to the cosmic that explore design's new terrain: enhancing communicative possibilities, embodying a new balance between technology and people, bringing technological breakthroughs up or down to comfortable, understandable human scale. These projects include interfaces, websites, video games, devices, tools, charts, and information systems, on topics global and personal. Whether we are hanging out on a social network or listening to a hard drive sneeze, we are partaking of a newly metaphysical and expressive layer of information and interaction that is already enriching our future.

Selected as one of the best designed publications of 2011 by the Association of American University Presses (AAUP).
