Product Description

Rising Currents: Projects for New York's Waterfront (PB)

By Barry Bergdoll. With essays by Guy Nordenson, Michael Oppenheimer and Catherine Seavitt. Preface by Judith Rodin.

Rising Currents: Projects for New York’s Waterfront features “soft infrastructure” solutions designed to make New York City more resilient to the effects of climate change, documenting the innovative proposals of five teams of architects, landscape architects, engineers, ecologists, and artists convened for a 2009–10 workshop and exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1. This volume presents the five projects in detail, including essays summarizing the pioneering initiative, the dialogues it has engendered around the future of regional planning, and the climate change and urban planning implications of the proposed solutions.

Selected as one of the best designed publications of 2011 by the Association of American University Presses (AAUP).
