These are worth the price. You can get smaller ones elsewhere online, but these are a good 2 inches in diameter. The smaller surface area makes the ice melt more slowly, and they will spin like a top in your glass. Fun and functional -- I've had no trouble removing the ice from the trays. Just make sure they're filled all the way, or else you'll get a flat top!

I saw some reviews and realized some people were not filling them the way they are intended. The tiny hole is not for pouring the water into. The way to use these is to fill up the base piece to the top with water, then take the top piece and SLOWLY lay it on top of the base piece. The excess water will come out the tiny hole. BEWARE THOUGH...if you push the top piece too quickly, the water will come out too fast and you will lose some of the water and the ball will not be round, so do it slowly.

Then, keeping the pieces pushed together, place them in your freezer on a flat surface and put a heavy package of frozen vegetables on top of it to keep the top piece pushed onto the bottom piece, otherwise, you will get air in there. (I usually clear a space in the freezer before I fill them with water).

This is my second set of the spherical ice trays. The round ice was such a success with my guests that I purchased anther. Everyone likes that the ice melts so slowlyy it only gradually dilutes the drinks. Perfect for scotch. This is a well made product. My old set still looks just as good as the new.
